Manor house and gardens in historic centre
This is one of the last true manor houses left (intact) in Foix. Over the years, these fine townhouses with their private gardens, shady courtyards and views of the 12th century Château de Foix, have been broken up, developed into flats and retail units, turned into office space or taken over by some administrative service.
The main house is a fine three storey building, set back from the street behind a high wall and an interior courtyard, green with shrubbery and palm trees. It is used as a guest house at present and the ground floor is devoted to the two guest suites and bathrooms as well as the guest kitchen. Upstairs in the owner’s apartment, a four bedroom surface with large lounge, kitchen and spacious dining room. Upstairs again, on the second floor, we find another unused apartment; in all there is over 300m² of living space, 8 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
All the windows on the garden side of the house look on to the imposing Château de Foix, the garden and the gite, a pretty cottage in the garden. Formally used as a pottery, it is now being refurbished as self-catering accommodation. There is even car parking for 4 or 5 cars at one end of the garden – a boon in a mediaeval town with narrow streets.
This exceptional property is being sold at an exceptional price – either as a family home with granny flat or as a going-concern, guest house and gite with all furnishings, fixtures and fittings in place.
